Movie Review : Dark Shadows

Dark Shadows movie, In 1752, Joshua (Ivan Kaye) and Naomi Collins (Susanna Cappellaro) with his son Barnabas (Johnny Depp), set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America while avoiding the curse that has plagued them. But in fact, the mysterious curse lingered although they have crossed oceans.

Two decades passed, Barnabas figure of the young man eventually became a wealthy and most powerful in the city Collinsport. Behavior playboy Barnabas who turned out to make the heart of a woman named Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green) were injured. Barnabas is more love Josette Dupres (Bella Heathcote) than Angelique. Angelique figure was not an ordinary woman, she is known as a wicked witch who would do anything to win the hearts of Barnabas.
Not satisfied with just killing Josette, Angelique turns Barnabas also cursed to be a vampire, and bound him in a coffin that was buried. This was done in order to see Angelique tormented Barnabas felt a lot longer than she imagined.
 After nearly 200 years buried underground, Barnabas finally free of the coffin that bound him. When returning home, he met again with the Collins family descendant and try to raise their good name like a nobleman. It is not easy for he had to adjust to the situation in 1972, at which time there have been a variety of technology that had never known.
Problems began to arise after the figure Angelique was still alive then and continue to hold a grudge against the Collins family. From this Baranabas trying to find a way out to remove the curse by killing Angelique.
Figure of the vampire in Dark Shadows movie is very much different from the story of handsome and cool vampire in Twilight. Projects big screen by director Tim Burton's much more classic show character and far from modern. Here, the figure of the vampire Barnabas had to keep eating fresh blood by killing humans and slept in a coffin.
Although the background story of the drama that comes from jealousy against Barnabas and Angelique Josette, movie Dark Shadows was also inserted with a hilarious comedy. Laughter of the audience will be hooked by the time Barnabas trying to adjust to human behavior in 1972. In addition, the film also features the figure of legendary musician Alice Cooper who look younger stature as adjusted to era in 1972.
Overall, the Dark Shadows movie is very entertaining and is able to give a fresh new look of the figure of the vampire that had been as taken over by Twilight. About the quality of acting, of course, the handsome actor Johnny Depp was no doubt because he managed to bring the classic vampire character darker. Message delivered from the film Dark shadows also very clear, that is the loyalty requires quite a lot of sacrifice.
