Greed was going on there. Once-ler
started cutting down Truffula trees for raw materials knit "Thneeds",
uniquely versatile material discovered, it takes everyone. Thneeds can be used as a shirt, socks, gloves, hats, rugs, pillows, blankets, or curtains.
Because Truffula cut, comes Lorax, guardian of the tree. His figure was short and old. His body is brown and mossy. He emerged from the Truffula tree stump. Lorax speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues. He warned Once-ler about the consequences of cutting down Truffula trees. But the Once-ler ignores it, even calling the whole family to come and work in the factory.

Beautiful valley was soon trapped pollution, oxygen is no more, because the trees are felled all exhausted. Lorax tells the animals to flee away from there, in order to find a more hospitable habitat. Then he was flying disappeared into the clouds. After the last Truffula tree felling, Once-ler bankrupt. The factory was forced to close.
Not far from the valley, built a high wall. Behind the wall stood a city named Thneedville. The town has jargon: "Fantastic, constructed of plastic". There, trees are made in factories using 96 batteries. The air is not so clean, so the people buying fresh air is blown from the machine. All the natural elements in the city's artificial, nothing original.
Former clerks in factories Once-ler, Aloysius O'Hare, good to see the opportunity and take advantage of the situation. O'Hare giant took over the business as a provider for the city's plastic. Any sale, ranging from water, air, trees, until the entire population is under the grip of an octopus business. Bust of O'Hare even standing proudly in the center of town.
Ted, the boy who lived in the city plastics asks why there are no trees there. His grandmother told Ted to see Once-ler. Once-ler who are convinced by mistake, then gave Ted last Truffula seed. The boy should be planted in the center of town. Seed and so sought O'Hare and his accomplice. Ted successful are planting trees?.
